Juliusz Joniak was born in 1925 Lvov where he graduated from The School of Artistic Craftsmanship during the war 1941-1945 years. After the war, a repatriated student who studied two faculties at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow: Painting under the supervision of Professor Czesław Rzepiński, who offered him the position of an assistant, and Artistic Graphics directed by Professor Andrzej Jurkiewicz and Professor Konrad Srzednicki. He obtained all possible scientific titles at the Academy of Fine Arts honored with full professorship. He was the dean of the faculty of Painting (1978-1981) and the deputy rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (1981-1984).
His artistic activity embraces the participation in many group and solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in the second, third and fourth Nationwide Exhibitions Fine Arts, the Arsenale exhibition, “Junge Generation” – Berlin, Leipzig. Contemporary painting: Sofia, Prague, Kiev, Bratislava, Dresden, Nancy, Valloris, Biennale – Merignac, Art Biennial “Sport in Art” – Madrid, Barcelona, “Teachers Academy of Fine Arts – Athens, Thessaloniki,” Ateliereinblicke” – Kunsthalle, Nuremberg. Individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad in Bergen, Leipzig, Prague, Mainz, Aschaffenburg, Wiesbaden...
Juliusz Joniak’s works are in museums and private collections in the National Museum in Krakow, Warsaw, as well as in foreign countries e.g. Australia, Denmark, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Germany.
In 1995 he was awarded the highest prize at the VII. Festival of the Arts in Magné – France, attended by more than 160 artists from all continents, where he became an Honorary Member of the Academie Européene de Arts in Paris.
He also received a number of awards and distinctions, Vice-President of The Society of The Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, a member of the Polish Artists Association. Juliusz Joniak served a number of positions of responsibility in the Polish Artists Association authority – Krakow District and the Main Board: for two terms, he was Vice-President of the Polish Artists Association – Krakow District, he took part in various committees and sections of the Main Board Painting of the Association of Polish Artists.
For saving The Society of The Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow and participation in its rebirth, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded Professor Juliusz Joniak Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta Polish in 2004.
The beauty and his great expressive painting class are confirmed by the solo exhibitions at The Palace of Fine Arts in Krakow in 1998, 2004, 2008, 2011 and 2013, three splendid Albums of Painting, catalog and a film about the artist painter Juliusz Joniak, enthusiastic Commemorative Book entries, a large international audience.
The current exhibition of works from the years 2011-2015, organized by The Society of The Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow for his Vice-President of the April / May 2015 is also subject to various requests from fans of painting of the great and outstanding artist both at home and abroad.
