Sabina Maria Grzyb is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in March 2017. Her painting primarily focuses on composition and static rock forms, intertwining real motifs and experiences with dreamlike spaces. She balances on the edges of abstraction, fantasy, and realism, maintaining her unique and distinctive style. She is a nostalgic landscapist of non-existent spaces, an artist with a deep sensitivity to color, manipulating forms in a monumental way to create her own undeniably beautiful worlds.
Her paintings, filled with ambiguities and suggestions for the viewer to contemplate, use various motifs to express her thoughts, feelings, and doubts. This art is rich with metaphors and meanings, tinged with a certain melancholy, reflecting on human existence. Sabina Maria Grzyb can be described as a creator of fantastical dreamscapes. Her work is closely tied to nature, imagination, and dreams, but also to self-distance and irony, with a mode of expression that intentionally incorporates incongruities, as seen in titles like “Romeo i Żulia,” “Fortuna,” and “Nastroje.” Her art is not devoid of playfulness, embodying the value that, as Jerzy Nowosielski said, “art does not succeed for serious people; they spoil every game.”
Her compositions are typically done in acrylic and oil on canvas, dominated by maritime landscapes with figures or human relationships, reflecting on the human condition. With a disciplined organizational approach to the painting surface, limited to a few elements, there is a decisive and sensual treatment of the painting material. Art, complex like human nature, continually reveals new possibilities. Sabina Maria is an ever-searching individual. Enthralled by landscapes and people, new artistic solutions emerge on the horizon of her imagination, evolving towards abstract solutions – the “pure landscape.”
