Three individual exhibitions in the Palace of Art in 1998, 2004 and 2008, three beautiful albums on painting, a film about painter Juliusz Joniak, enthusiastic inscriptions in the Visitors’ Book, a great number of viewers and enchanted international publics – these all prove beauty and grandeur of his paintings.
Juliusz Karol Joniak was born in Lvov where he graduated from The School of Artistic Craftsmanship in the war years 1941-1945. After the war, being a repatriated student, he studied two faculties at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow: painting under the supervision of Professor Czesław Rzepiński, who offered him the position of an assistant, and artistic graphics directed by Professor Andrzej Jurkiewicz and Professor Konrad Srzednicki. He obtained all possible scientific titles at the Academy of Fine Arts crowned with full professorship. He was the dean of the faculty of painting (1978-1981) and the deputy rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1981-1984).
The current, fourth individual exhibition of Juliusz Joniak’s paintings breaks the even rhythm of presenting his artistic output in the Palace of Art. It is connected with the hundredth anniversary of The Polish Artists’ Association where Professor Joniak has been a member since 1949. He took many responsible positions in the Cracow’s district management of The Polish Artists’ Association as well as in the head management: he was a vice chairman of the Cracow’s district of The Polish Artists’ Association, he acted in various commissions and sections of paining within the head management of The Polish Artists’ Association.
The exhibition of paintings of the years 2008 until 2011 organised by The Society of The Friends of Fine Arts for its vice chairman relevantly precedes the Anniversary Exhibition of The Polish Artists’ Association Painting planned to be held in September 2011 in the Palace of Art.
