Krystyna Głowniak

Krystyna Głowniak - known Polish painter from Lublin is connected with the milieu of Kazimierz, her painting origin is inscribed in Confraternity of Art, an artistic colony in Kazimierz Dolny gathering many creators of various ways of expression. She is an active painter and she takes part in local exhibitions (Summer Salon). Her two exhibitions in the Upon-Vistula Museum: „Mystical and usual landscapes” and „Senneville landscapes” in the House of Kuncewicz Family aroused interest and approval of the artistic milieu. The subject matter of her painting grows out of regional roots, refers to the atmosphere of the small towns in Eastern Europe, their multiculturalism, is a valuable part of the popular memory, which contemporary identity of Kazimierz upon Vistula River and the unique atmosphere of the „small homelands” can be built on. 
The painter is valued by the private collectors both in Poland and abroad. There are Głowniak’s paintings in The Upon-Vistula Museum in Kazimierz Dolny, in the National Museum in Gdańsk (Oliwa Abbots’ Palace), in The Museum in Łęczna, in The Museum of Pharmacy of the Jagiellonian University, in The Museum of Pharmacy in Lublin. The H. Łopaciński’s Library in Lublin has been enriched by the collection of Krystyna Głowniak’s drawings. Thanks to her the preservation of the cultural heritage of our region is fully possible.   
The painter is looking for inspiration in the world of small provincial towns in Poland, Greece, France, Germany, Spain. She glorifies the country as a place where Genius Locci, that arises the premonition of the existence of another reality, is present.
The author presented her works in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Jerusalem, Ulan Bator, Nantes, Amsterdam, Drohobych.
She ordered her works in painting series: Mystical and Common Landscapes, Senneville landscapes, Notes from the Country, Not-only Venice and other mentioned above. She makes use of the inspirations coming from Bruno Schulz’s literary visions, interwar photographs of the small towns in Eastern Europe, from many voyages, she undertakes with her husband, an outstanding scientist in the field of medicinal plants (Greece, Portugal, Venice, Tbilisi).
She is also the author of appreciated photographs e.g. from the carnival in Venice, which were presented on numerous exhibitions.
She is the author of the following books: a volume „Provincia addormentata” and an album „Time Trap” including painter’s texts, paintings and drawings. She has been running her own art gallery for some time. This so-called „Painting Room” studio is located in the Lublin’s Old Town.
She is a member of ZPAP, she cooperates with the Association „Wspólnota Polska” supporting Polish youth from Eastern Europe, she is a member of The Academy of the Masters of Polish Speech, she takes part in the meetings of artistic youth from Israel which aim at common activities concerning the culture of both countries.

1992 – taking part in international borderland culture session on Bruno Schultz 50th death anniversary (inspirited by B. Schutz’s novels she painted a series of pictures)
1993 – "Les dejeuners sur I’Erdre" exhibition in La Chapelle sur Erdre in France

2002 – participation in teachers - seminar in Jad Vashem Memory Institute in Jerusalem,she created a series of drawings entitled „Jerusalem”
